Biography
Brittany D. Friesner is a double alumna of Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in arts administration. As Associate Director for IU Cinema, she researches and curates film programming, leads IU Cinema’s Creative Collaborations partnership program, manages the IU Cinema Program Advisory Board, collaborates with Director Jon Vickers on strategic planning initiatives, and leads the Cinema’s marketing and audience engagement efforts, including donor cultivation and stewardship activities.
Brittany has worked in programming, marketing, and theater operations for the Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival, Bloomington PRIDE Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, and Indy Film Fest. She has served on the Heartland International Film Festival’s Narrative Short Film and Documentary Features juries and on the Grand Jury for the Indy Film Fest.
Brittany joined the IUBPC to further her knowledge and understanding of the issues and challenges facing IU staff, to work toward making positive change in the IU work environment, to increase awareness of opportunities available for IU staff, and to reach more deeply into all areas of the Bloomington campus to gain a more thorough understanding of the scope of Indiana University and everyone who plays a part in making it a world-class university.
