Role at IU: I work with 21st Century Scholars to ensure that they maintain their scholarship eligibility. I also lead our advising team by building an advising program that supports scholars while at IUB, making sure that they feel a sense of belonging, and build their confidence and sense of self while supporting them in completing their bachelor’s degrees.
Previous Position at IU: Projectionist for the IU Cinema (2010-2012), Associate Instructor (2006-2010), Adjunct for the Sociology department (current), and Academic Advisor with University Division (2011-2013).
Degrees and Education: BA in Sociology from American University (Washington, DC); MA in Sociology from Indiana University Bloomington; currently pursuing a doctorate in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Indiana University Bloomington
Previous IUBSC Experience: Awarded a Professional Development Grant in 2023 and panelist for the Women’s History Month IUBSC Speakers Series in March 2023
IUBSC Motivations: Having had several different roles at IU Bloomington over the last two decades--graduate student, Adjunct, and my longest role as a professional staff member moving towards administration--I feel that I understand the needs of all the stakeholders on our campus and can use my experiences to help bridge gaps and make us a stronger institution. I am interested in strengthening the relationships between professional staff, faculty, and administration to better ensure the best support for our students as they work to reach their goals. I am also interested in advocating for more equitable salaries for professional staff.
